Photo Guidelines

Any media and assets used by Trailogy will promote the dignity and respect of neurodivergent individuals and the people that love them. We commit to use media that is reflective of our values, and with the understanding that:

IEP/ARD Process & Advocacy

  • Neurodivergent individuals are capable and worthy of respect, dignity, and having their wants and needs met

  • Neurodivergence and Autism impact individuals across their lifetime and is not a “superpower”

  • Neurodivergency impacts individuals across all communities (race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality) and we honor intersectionality

We use media that

  • Represents neurodivergence authentically

  • Celebrates diverse families, individuals, and communities

  • Is staged/professional, ensuring photographed individuals have given informed consent

  • Highlights a variety of experiences and lifestyles

  • Includes accessible environments and tools (assistive technology, wheelchairs, hearing devices)

We avoid:

  • Promoting harmful stereotypes (disability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality)

  • Reinforcing gender stereotypes

  • Overemphasis on medical or therapeutic settings

  • Infantilization or “Overcoming” narratives

  • Framing autism as a “superpower”

  • Puzzle pieces

  • Children or disabled individuals in compromising positions (on the toilet, in the bathtub, in swimsuits, eating, etc.)

  • Romanticizing the neurodivergent experience

  • Tokenizing or using neurodivergent individuals to “teach” others
